Who built 55 Windows Palace
The centerpiece of Bhaktapur Durbar Square (Layaku) Monument Conservation Zone, one of the five Monument Zones in the Kathmandu Valley, a World Heritage Site (UNESCO), is the 55-window palace. This three-story, U-shaped structure is thought to have been constructed by King Bhupatindra Malla. However, the moniker “55-window palace” is very new, having been given by western travelers to Nepal in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.
A balcony with 55 Windows Palace is situated among the brick walls, boasting a pleasant setting and sculptural style. A masterwork of wood carving is this balcony. Intricate carvings adorn the Batsala Devi Stone Temple, which is also situated in the Durbar Square (Layaku).
